Short list of ways to help
local animals.
If you only have a small block of time available, here are some quick
ways you can help:
- Contact your public servants about
changes you would like to see in the way homeless animals are treated
now. This is really important. These are the people who make the
decisions about how your tax money is (or isn't) spent to help animals.
See [Brev_gov_print.htm]
for their names and contact info.
- Spread the word about local animal
welfare issues and where to find more info. Talk to family,
friends, coworkers, students, and anyone else who will listen.
- Hand out brochures promoting
the good works of your favorite local animal welfare organization(s).
Check websites for how to get their promotional info for
distribution. Encourage them to have it available for easy
download and printing.
- Add something to your personal space at
work to remind others to think about how they can help homeless animals.
- If you're a student, add something to
the school supplies you lug around to encourage others to help homeless
animals.
- Add something to your car or truck which
lets people know you care about homeless pets. Bumper
sticker, magnetic ribbon or sign, simple message in window.
(Be careful not to block driver's view - side window behind
driver is least obstructive, and easily visible to passengers in
vehicle to your left while stopped in traffic.)
- Add to your email signature some mention
of animal welfare.
- Send in your suggestions for this list!
- Post on Craig's List
reminding pet owners to spay and neuter their pets, and where they can
have it done for the lowest cost. (No more than one post per Craig's List catagory within two days or you might get flagged.)
